Investment incentives in Poland


Poland is the biggest country in the Central and Eastern Europe, strategically located in the centre of the continent and in direct neighbourhood of the eastern markets (Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania).

 

  • Poland is characterised by a very stable macroeconomic situation, developing economy and large internal market, which has been confirmed by independent rankings and surveys: according to the Bloomberg 2013 ranking Poland is the best country for conducting business in the CEE region; in FDI Intelligence report Poland is third on the list of the best places for production investments all over the world.

 

  • Low employment costs, low salaries, low lease prices, advantageous tax law regulations and 19% basic CIT rate.

 

  • High-qualified staff with a good command of foreign languages.
  • Special Economic Zones – 14 separate areas intended for conducting business activities on preferential conditions (attractive tax reliefs, free-of-charge support in dealing with formalities related to investment, exemption from property tax in certain municipalities, employment facilitations and areas well-prepared for investments).
  • Possibility to obtain financial support from the European Union’s structural funds – in the years 2007-2013 Poland received the total amount exceeding EUR 67 billion from the EU budget. The EU supplementary financing may be obtained for projects covering almost all branches of economy.
  • Possibility to obtain governmental grants awarded under the Program for supporting investments of considerable importance for the Polish economy for the years 2011 - 2020 in the form of investment subsidies in the priority sectors: motor industry, electronics, aviation, biotechnology, modern services, research and development in terms of creation of new jobs and qualified costs of new investments.
  • Advantageous investment conditions in industrial and technological parks gathering businesses from the same sector, receiving support from researching and scientific units. In such parks entrepreneurs may benefit from counselling services regarding creation and development of undertakings, technology transfers and translation of scientific research and development results into technological innovations.
  • Possibility to take advantage of exemption from property tax by virtue of a resolution of the Municipal Council as one of the forms of public aid.
  • Possibility to grant business conducting innovative activities, in particular within the scope of research and development, the status of Research and Development Centre (CBR), which enables applying for exemption from property tax and reduction of taxation base by the amount allotted to the innovation fund.
